Recherchetool für Materialien Problem Plastic: How Polyester and PET plastic can be unsafe, unjust, and unsustainable materials This report investigates the impacts of one of the most widely-used plastics, known as PET (for polyethyleneterephthalate) and as “polyester” in its fiber form. While PET is but one of several problematic plastics, it is emblematic of concerns that may exist with all petrochemical plastics. We chose to closely examine PET (including polyester) because of its major production volume, its reliance on toxic chemicals and plastic additives that can threaten human health, and the mismanagement typical of the end of PET products’ short life-cycle. Like other petrochemical plastics, PET can also contribute to environmental racism and increases greenhouse gas emissions Herausgeber*in/Autor*in: Defend Our Health; Autor*in: Michael Belliveau, Roopa Krithivasan Medienart: Hintergrundinformation Erscheinungsjahr: 2022 Zielgruppe: Student*innen, Erwachsene Sprache: Englisch Umfang: 68 SeitenBezug: kostenfrei als PDF bei Defend Our Health Suchbegriffe: Bekleidungsindustrie, Chemikalien, Fasern, Gesundheit, Giftstoffe, Polyester, soziale Verantwortung, textile Kette Ähnliche Materialien COVID-19 and the Garment and Textile Sector in Ethiopia: Worker’s Perspectives on COVID-19 Response Fast Fashion – Die dunkle Welt der Billigmode Fast Fashion – Eine Bilanz in 3 Teilen Unpicked: Fashion & Freedom of association Durable, repairable and mainstream – How ecodesign can make our textiles circular zurück
