News - © FEMNET Rana Plaza Memorial Day On April 24, 2013, the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh collapsed, killing 1,134 textile workers. Now, seven years after what is arguably the biggest catastrophe in the clothing sector, general working conditions for workers have improved little. Especially in the current corona crisis, it is also clear how little responsibility the big fashion companies really take on for their textile value chains. Unfortunately, many planned events and demonstrations had to be cancelled, so we are starting a special event for this year's Memorial Day. Join in action! FEMNET has come up with the clothing within the framework of the Fashion revolution week Create an action that you can easily take part in. In times of social distancing, we can still set a sign together and point out the grievances of the textile and fashion industry. In addition, we appreciate your interest in one of the Online events as part of Fashion Revolution Week 2020! Instructions for the A3 stencils You need: Carton A3, Carpet knife/scalpel, 2 A4 printouts, glue, spray chalk Print our stencils. Lay the two A4 sides together on the cardboard. Attach the A4 sides one after the other with glue on the cardboard. Press and wait for a moment. First remove the letters one after the other with the carpet knife/scalpel. Then remove the border of the T-shirt with the carpet knife/scalpel. Don't panic if you lose a part of the letter – you can easily glue it back on with some tape. We recommend water-soluble and environmentally friendly spray chalk without CFC substances. We have created two templates that you can easily download and craft. With our template ‘Rana Plaza Never Again (PDF file)“We would like to commemorate the anniversary of the collapse of the building. We also demand "#PayUp" (PDF file) and require fashion companies not to cancel orders that have already been placed, so that manufacturing companies do not sit on their goods and textile workers receive their earned wages. Together with the template of Fashion Revolution you can also ask Who made my clothes? (PDF file). Whether you use the three templates individually or together is up to you. Here's how it works: Prepare stencils (see instructions) and make the motifs creatively visible in Fashion Revolution Week from 20 to 26 April, for example by spraying an old T-shirt with it, designing a banner and letting it hang from the balcony, printing a poster and sticking it in your window so that it is visible from the street - or or or or...There are no limits to your creativity and we are excited to see what you can come up with! We look forward to you capturing your action on photos and videos and sharing it online to draw even more people's attention and encourage them to join in. Also link to our channels so that we can see and share your action: Instagram: @femnet_ev ,@dressing Facebook: @FEMNETeV, @kleidereikoeln PS: Please fit in with promotions on the street Make sure you are legally on the safe side: Do not spray private land spraying of roads is prohibited in many city ordinances, if this can distract cyclists and motorists many motives at once can be regarded as harassment of the general public according to §118 (OwiG) Police or public order authorities rate painting with spray chalk differently from city to city - so please inform yourself before your action how your city handles this Have fun joining in!
