#SolidarityWorks! Unsere Arbeit in Produktionsländern - Rechtshilfe Knowing rights - enforcing rights Legal advice and financial support in labour law processes are an important basis for workers to know what rights they have and how to enforce them. Because even if occupational health and safety laws exist, they are rarely complied with. With your donations, we support our local partner organisations in order to strengthen textile workers' rights and to provide them with legal support in the event of an emergency. Because lawyers and litigation costs workers can usually not afford, so that the majority of the legal violations are not punished. Legal Actions, Complaint Letters and Mediations grassroots trade unions and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are helping seamstresses file lawsuits to obtain compensation. Direct mediation by legal experts with factory management can also lead to the goal. Typical problems include unlawful dismissals, late or non-payment of wages, sexual harassment and breaches of maternity protection. In this way, we work against the unequal power relations between factory management and workers. For example, donations for legal assistance had a very specific effect in 2022: In addition to legal assistance, FEMNET supported the NGWF 2022 organisation and trade union to conduct training sessions for 376 participants to learn about and apply complaints opportunities. In addition, informative brochures were created and distributed. back
