Gender-Responsive Health Protection - News 16 March 2023 #OhMyG*OSH! First edition of the G*OSH newsletter on gender-responsive occupational health and safety Gender equality and health and safety at work need to be considered together, especially for textile and footwear factories where women are predominantly employed. Launched in December 2021 Multi-stakeholder partnership (MAP) We have started implementing gender-responsive health and safety at work. A lot has happened since then! G*OSH - Gender-Sensitive Views on Occupational Safety and Health we draw attention to gender-sensitive perspectives in occupational health and safety and draw attention to findings and activities relating to our project progress with our partner organisations CIVIDEP (India), TURC (Indonesia) and SOUTH WIND (Germany). In the brand new first edition, the results of studies on gender-specific problems in the field of occupational safety and health in India and Indonesia, which we carried out with our partners in a first project phase, can be read. The studies have shown, among other things, that reproductive health problems, such as menstrual hygiene for textile workers, are an important issue and that more ‘H’-ealth in ‘OSH’ is needed, i.e. more health protection. We are also pleased to introduce Uni Lina, an inspiring young textile worker who stands up for the rights of her colleagues with her union commitment in Jakarta. The broad-based project partnership has recently carried out a number of activities, such as participating in a successful side session at the OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Textile and Shoe Industry, where the study results on OSH challenges could be presented. In addition, a first dialogue trip to Indonesia led to important discussions with stakeholders such as trade unions and factory management. Preparations for the first (digital) Dialogue Forum on 16 May 2023 and the Gender Data Working Group are currently in full swing. The English-language newsletter ‘G*OSH’ keeps you informed about past and future projects within the framework of the project. Subscribe to the newsletter Created: 16 March 2023
