Educational work with young people © Astrid Piethan Active for human rights in fashion Buying yourself happy is an illusion! More and more young people are aware of the exploitative conditions under which fashion is made and are looking for an alternative way of dealing with clothing. That's why they need role models for how to do better! Our individual and collective actions can inspire people to change things, can encourage participation and encourage pressure on companies and politics. Self-efficacy experiences and creative freedom provide joy and strengthen self-confidence. Commitment promotes networking skills and teaches competencies, such as organizational skills. The public theme can trigger forward-looking changes: For example, a German supply chain law was passed in 2023, which was completely unthinkable just a few years ago. FEMNET has developed various materials that strengthen young people's engagement in both school and extracurricular contexts. One Action manual provides a practical guide for teachers and students who want to become active themselves. The publication presents 13 action ideas on the topic of textiles and clothing, which can be assigned to the categories creativity, events and permanent actions. These ideas for action are complemented by practical instructions and worksheets for the generation of ideas and action plan, which can be used for the concrete elaboration.
