1. Justice for the workers in Bangladesh!

factory buildingOn December 20, 2012, the Clean Clothes Campaign launched a petition to textile companies. The objective: KiK, C&A and others should pay compensation after the fire at Tazreen factory in Bangladesh and sign a fire protection agreement!

Help to ensure that the workers in Bangladesh receive justice and that such a tragic accident does not happen again! Every vote makes a difference and decides on the introduction of basic safety standards in Bangladesh's factories.

2. Creative actions on 10.12. in Berlin and 15.12.2012 in Bonn

Action-10-12-2012-1FEMNET members took part in two creative protests on the subject in December "Regulating instead of blocking - uncovering instead of ceilings - transparency now!". In Bonn and Berlin, the German government was called upon to abandon its blockade stance against the disclosure obligation of companies.

3. Eco-Fair Buying Guide for Bonn: Collaboration possible

More and more consumers today want to know where their clothes come from. Textiles made of organic cotton, for example, are becoming more and more popular, due to numerous campaigns/information on the subject of sweatshops, there is also an increasing demand for social conditions/working conditions during production.

A shopping guide to eco-fair fashion is now being designed for the Bonn area. Interested in active participation are welcome.

4. CCC Action Meeting 2013: Invitation for the 01.-02.02.2013 to Hattingen

As last year, the action meeting brings together activists and interested parties of the campaign for clean clothing (CCC). The focus is on the exchange of experience and the development of actions and strategies for the coming months. This year, the participants will deal with a variety of new topics. The spectrum ranges from "fire protection" to "Living Wage".

5. Call for donations for FAIRSCHNITT and a tour of Indian seamstresses in 2013

You think that we have to start in Germany - with consumer behaviour, with the practices of local companies - in order to stand up for better working and living conditions in the producing countries? We find that too!

FEMNET e.V. is committed to the rights of seamstresses in southern countries and aims to educate students at German fashion universities about working conditions in the global fashion industry and to raise awareness of sustainability in production with the educational project 'FAIRSCHNITT'. Donate for rethinking!

We are currently collecting donations for a tour of Indian seamstresses who report at universities and at evening events about working conditions in Indian spinning mills and about the Sumangali system in Tamil Nadu/South India, through which seamstresses are practically enslaved. We find: Only if we start here with us can we make lasting changes! Please support us in our work.

6. Successful conference: Ethics and transparency in the clothing industry

On 18 and 19 October 2012, FEMNET e.V. organized a conference for teachers and students of the fashion industry. More than 80 conference participants met at the Science Center Gelsenkirchen. In six workshops, two panel discussions and several thematic tables, many ascetics on the subject of ethics, transparency, sustainability and CSR in the apparel industry were discussed, illuminated and deepened at a high level and with a lot of commitment. Teachers and students from 12 fashion universities from all over Germany met activists, entrepreneurs and interest groups. At the beginning of the year, you can receive all lectures and detailed conference documentation on the FEMNET homepage.

7. Which textile seal can I trust?

Do you want to buy ecologically and fairly produced clothing? But don't know where and which label you can trust? It is not so easy to find your way in the jungle of colorful seals. What's behind it? Which is to be trusted and which is only used for so-called greenwashing?

We would like to give interested parties some tips for conscious shopping and have collected the most important information and links in a short text.
