Health of textile workers endangered with illegal pills

After research by Anuradha NagarajThomson Reuters Foundation) In Channai, India, young women in Tamil Nadu's sewing and spinning mills receive unknown medications for their period pain without any medical advice. The women are uninformed about possible side effects and only notice the effects on their health after months: They complain of depression, anxiety, hormone fluctuations, miscarriages and fibroids (ulcers in the uterus).

For fear of losing wages through breaks, women see painkillers as the only way out. Women's lives are thus controlled in order to keep production running continuously. In addition, the toilets are not kept clean on purpose so that they are used less.
