Photo: © Soroptimist International Germany, Club Bonn"I am a consumer ambassador" is the project with which FEMNET has secured this year's Women's Empowerment Award of the Soroptimist Club Bonn. It was handed over to the Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board Vanessa Püllen at a small ceremony on 17 October 2017 in the auditorium of the Beethovengymnasium in Bonn.
With the help of the prize, which is endowed with 3000 euros, the project ‘Ich BIN Konsumambasserin’ (I BIN Consumer Ambassador) can be started at Bonn schools. The aim is to train female students to become responsible and critical consumer ambassadors who reflect on their own purchasing behaviour and take responsibility for social concerns. They should be able to pass on what they have learned to their classmates themselves with creative ideas. Under the guiding principle of ‘thinking globally – acting locally’, the topic is to be sustainably established in schools.
"I am very happy that with the prize money I now have the opportunity to expand my previously rather short-term assignments and educational events on the global clothing industry in the long term and thus be able to develop and establish them as sustainable projects in close cooperation with the students. This has been a matter close to my heart for a long time!" said Vanessa Püllen.
