Pressemeldungen - ©GNF / FEMNET 02 October 2025 Sport Fair Modified: Leipzig Gymnastics Festival awards associations for creative ideas on social-ecological transformation Joint press release from the Global Nature Fund and FEMNET Whether in competitive or grassroots sport, active athletes know the power of change in their discipline. The competition for ideas has this energy Sports Fairly modified As part of the Leipzig Gymnastics Festival 2025, sports clubs were invited to submit their concepts for a social-ecological transformation. Among the clubs that have been awarded, the jury has awarded three first places to particularly convincing projects: Pfeffersport e.V. (Berlin): The club presented a new, Fair Wear-certified jersey, which was developed in cooperation with Iriedaily in the context of the campaign Mission of Inclusion was created and is already worn visibly in game operation. In addition, Pfeffersport relied on a sustainability exchange for clothing and awareness-raising activities at the end of the season ‘Tournament for All’. TuS 04 Kaiserslautern-Dansenberg e.V.: In the category ‘Innovation and creativity in dealing with (old) textiles’, the association convinced with upcycling ideas: Bags, mobile phone cases or even crawl tunnels are made of old jerseys, banners or defective sports equipment. The jury was particularly positive about the fact that it makes sense to reuse materials that would otherwise have ended up in waste. Boxclub Leipzig 05 e.V.: The association consistently focuses on fair textiles and wants to further expand this approach. Not only the use of fair trade cotton from local production is planned, but also workshops for members to increase awareness of sustainability. “A great approach that shows how sports clubs can motivate people to think about fairness”, emphasises jury member Bettina Faust from the project partner Global Nature Fund. The fairness campaign of the gymnastics festival is accompanied by the Global Nature Fund and the women's rights association FEMNET. "Many sports clubs show how sustainability and responsibility can be achieved through collective action", says jury member Sabine Kaldonek of FEMNET. The competition enters the second round: Until the end of October 2025, sports clubs can submit further ideas on how textile sustainability and fairness can be implemented in everyday club life. All interested associations are cordially invited to participate in their projects – and a strong sign of a Fair-changing sport to set.
