Nachrichten & Pressemeldungen - © Initiative Supply Chain Act 19 September 2019 Against gains without conscience: Broad civil society alliance calls for supply chain law The German government must legally oblige German companies to comply with human rights and environmental standards worldwide. This is called for by a broad alliance of 64 civil society organisations, including FEMNET and the CorA Corporate Responsibility Network, on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the devastating fire disaster at the Ali Enterprises textile factory in Pakistan. © Initiative Supply Chain ActOn 10 September 2019, the "Initiative Supply Chain Act" was presented in Berlin. FEMNET member Franziska Wiethold has shown presence on site for us. The initiative is supported by trade unions, environmental, human rights and development organisations, fair trade representatives and church organisations. At the beginning of the campaign, the initiative commemorated the dead who died in various accidents at suppliers of German companies with an action in front of the Reichstag. In a petition, Chancellor Angela Merkel's alliance calls for a supply chain law to be introduced by 2020. Such a law would require companies to take appropriate measures to prevent human rights violations and environmental degradation in their businesses. Companies could be held liable for damage to people and the environment. Do you also want to demand an effective supply chain law? There are many ways to support the initiative. You can download or order information material, an argumentation guide and signature lists online. You will always be up to date with a newsletter on the Supply Chain Act initiative.
