Nachrichten & Pressemeldungen - © Justice is Everybody’s Business The next step for a strong EU supply chain law – join us now! Together with the Supply Chain Act initiative, numerous organisations and civil society, we have been working for a long time to protect human rights, the climate and the environment in supply chains. On 1 June, MEPs in the European Parliament will be able to vote on their position on the EU Supply Chain Act. Together we want to make it clear to them once again: It is important to vote for the European Supply Chain Act now! The German Supply Chain Act entered into force on 1 January 2023. This was an important step to ensure that companies no longer make profits at the expense of people and the environment. But: German law has many weaknesses – and its limitations. A Europe-wide solution can and must close these gaps as quickly as possible. Only if the parliamentarians agree to the current compromise will the way be clear for the trilogue. In this process, EU co-legislators – the Commission, the Council and the Parliament – negotiate the final text of an EU Supply Chain Act. But the majority in Parliament is not a sure thing: It is true that a compromise has been laboriously negotiated in recent months. Nevertheless, there are many MEPs who still do not want to position themselves for companies to finally take responsibility for people, climate and the environment in their supply chains. So write to the German MEPs now! Show what you expect from them: A vote for the EU Supply Chain Act! Join the email action now back
