Bonn. From Tuesday, 1 March 2022, the Bonn-based women's rights organisation FEMNET e.V. will be showing 17 unique works of art from well-known artists from all over Germany (primarily from North Rhine-Westphalia) that have been donated online. The artworks address the T-shirt as a symbol of fast-paced cheap fashion and are the culmination of the five-month solidarity and education campaign #onetshirtto live by FEMNET.

The aim of the campaign is more critical fashion consumption and more conscious engagement with resources and working conditions in the global fashion and textile industry. For the first time, FEMNET collaborates with artists and designers who emphasize the material and ideal value of a T-shirt through their artistic work:

They each donate a work of art, which they have specially made from a private T-shirt within their genre (installation, sculpture, painting, photography, calligraphy, writing). At the same time, the artists call on other creatives to participate:

Under the motto ‘Art instead of consumption’, people with a creative spirit and a message can wear a self-upcycled shirt from 1 to 31 March at the #onetshirtto live-Post campaign page. In addition to the visibility of their contribution, they also receive a ticket for the fair draw of one of the 17 donated T-shirt artworks.

On March 1st, FEMNET will publish in an online gallery on onetshirtto live.de the names and works of art of the participating nationally to internationally renowned artists as well as successively the submitted contributions in the course of March.

The artworks themselves will be exhibited at a major closing event with talks, information, live music and fair fashion show on Sunday, 24 April 2022 in the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum in Cologne and then raffled off. Details of the program will follow.
