Bildungsarbeit mit Jugendlichen Klima & Klamotten in Augsburg - Testimony of a schoolgirl On 27 and 28 March 2023, FEMNET organised two project days in the 8th grade of the Bobinger Realschule. A student reports from practice. Despite some complications from a Germany-wide rail strike, the students of the 8d were not discouraged from coming to school. However, there were also changes in plans due to this strike, as it was not possible to get to Augsburg by train. Nevertheless, the tour turned out to be a success in retrospect. On the first day, the class received an introduction to the topic. The students reflected on their own consumption, got to know the supply chain and dealt with the environmental impact of textiles. Afterwards, they divided into four groups, which prepared content and methods for one of the four stations of the next day's city tour. The day ended with a trial run. On the second day, the students of the 8d together with the students of the 7a set off for Augsburg. At the individual stations, the class 8d carried out its methods and the class 7a got insights into the topic of climate & clothes. Station 1: Fair, slow, fast or ultra-fast fashion? What exactly is the difference? Station 1 has dealt with this topic in order to be able to answer exactly these questions. Station 2: Effects of fast fashion... on the climate and the environment! “New season, new clothes! Not a t-shirt, but 5, or 8? If I order already, then more! Maybe two different colors? Or sizes? This is no longer ‘in’, away with it! I could send it back anyway!’ – Unfortunately, these have become everyday thoughts of the population, the effects or consequences of this consumption behaviour were discussed in the 2nd edition. Station illustrated by illustrative examples. Whether mountains of discarded clothing, child labour, microplastics or CO2, the list of negative consequences is long and frightening. Station 3: What can we do? If not now when? Acting instead of talking! We can all contribute. This is exactly what Group 3. Station 4: Sustainable textiles in the middle of Augsburg! Fair for everyone! - Suslet, Glore and Onimos show that sustainable clothing is ‘trendy’ and does not always have to break the wallet. We received interesting information and an insight into three fair clothing shops in Augsburg – for many the highlight of the tour.
