Cover of the FEMNET Annual Report 2019

The year 2019 was marked by the fight #against violence against seamstresses. Together with our partners, we were able to effectively support women in India and Bangladesh. In the Textile Alliance, we enforced the fight against women's discrimination as a binding cross-cutting issue for 2020. With a variety of actions, events and publications, we were committed to living wages and more transparency, opposed fast fashion and presented sustainable alternatives.

There was a noticeable increase in interest in fair public procurement in 2019: Small municipalities are also on their way, pilot projects encourage imitation and with a lecture tour and country studies, we specifically focused on workwear. We are looking forward to growing cooperation in our educational and educational work and are convinced: Together we bring human rights into fashion!

The year 2018 is marked by a variety of actions and forms of action, painful regressions or stagnation, but also progress that motivates us to persistently stand up for women's rights. A successful conference, the lecture tour of committed and impressive trade unionists from India and Bangladesh and new punks in the field of education and consulting characterize the year.

In 2017, we continued our campaign work and actively contributed to the textile alliance. Through our commitment, around 100 companies that are members of the alliance have been able to commit to binding targets for improving working conditions from 2018. It is progressing, but we are also required to be patient, because nothing is yet to be done with the seamstresses. After all, we have taken the initiative to improve working conditions for young girls in the spinning mills in South India further. At the same time, as part of the Clean Clothes Campaign, we have been working to support the strikers in Bangladesh.
