Kleiderei Radio live on November 25th: In conversation with experts from India and Indonesia

On the International Day against Violence against Women, we cordially invite you to a special event: A live podcast with Kleiderei Radio and our partners from India and Indonesia. Join us and discuss!

Moderators Amelie Liebst (Clothes) and Anna Burst (FEMNET Chair) talk to Kaveri Maletira Thimmaiya and Antony Raju V. of Cividep from India and Danardianingtyas Nitya S. and Didit Saleh of TURC from Indonesia about the reality of gender-based violence in the textile industry and the health risks that textile workers face. Together, they will shed light on how to improve working conditions and combat gender-based violence.

Why this is important:
Women make up a large part of the workforce in the global textile industry. But many of them are threatened by violence and exploitation on a daily basis. Gender-based violence poses a major risk, especially in the clothing and footwear industries, but it is often ignored in discussions on health and safety at work. It has a significant impact on women's physical and mental health.

In addition, unrealistically high production targets force many workers to avoid breaks and spend long hours working in stressful attitudes. Malnutrition, dehydration and exposure to hazardous agents exacerbate health risks.

This is where Cividep's multi-stakeholder project in India, the Trade Union Rights Center (TURC) in Indonesia, the SOUTHWIND Institute and FEMNET comes in: It identifies gender-specific risks and develops solutions to combat them.

In addition to exciting discussions, we present our projects and show you how civic engagement can bring about change. The Kleiderei Köln also offers inspiration for a more sustainable fashion consumption.

At the end of the evening, the Kleiderei Radio DJ team will get you moving with a set. Come by, network and let's take a stand against violence together!
