Pressemeldungen - Unternehmensverantwortung & Lieferkettengesetz © froodmat-photocase.de 27 January 2022 "Climate & Clothing" New Crossmedia Project for Young People Launched Bonn/Cologne. Under the title ‘Klima & Klamotten’, LizzyNet gGmbH and FEMNET e.V. are launching a nationwide cross-media and education project. The project encourages young people to engage in climate-friendly alternatives to fast fashion. The three-year measure is funded within the framework of the National Climate Initiative (NKI) of the Federal Ministry for the Environment. What should be changed in the future to make fashion consumption more sustainable? And how can as many people as possible be sensitized to this topic? These questions are addressed by young people and young adults in the Climate & Clothing project. This is because: The clothing industry is currently one of the biggest climate killers. Ten percent of all greenhouse gases emitted worldwide each year are caused by the production of clothing and shoes alone - more than international air traffic and maritime shipping combined. In addition, there is the short-lived nature of clothing and ever-faster fashion cycles, called fast fashion. They exacerbate the problem of high environmental pollution and enormous resource and water consumption. “Since the 1990s, the consumption of clothing in the EU has increased dramatically. And almost half of the purchased textiles are thrown away after a short period of use. This needs to be rethought", says Ulrike Schmidt, Managing Director of LizzyNet gGmbH and project manager of Klima&Klamotten. The project offers young people and young adults who enjoy fashion and at the same time want to protect the climate the opportunity to become active themselves and try out new approaches. In youth editorial offices, they develop community-oriented advertising and information campaigns on climate-friendly fashion consumption and test which media means and ways achieve the greatest effectiveness in their target group. At the same time, educational workshops and city tours on the topic of climate & clothing for all school types from the seventh grade onwards will take place."Students will learn what a more sustainable approach to clothing can look like, or how climate-friendly labels, upcycling and exchange projects work," says Marijke Mulder of Verbundpartnerin FEMNET e.V. The total duration of the nationwide project is three years. The measure is funded within the framework of the National Climate Initiative (NKI) of the Federal Ministry for the Environment.
