News about Our Work - © ifeelstock-depositphotos.com 04 January 2020 Non-profit needs interference FEMNET has been a member of the Alliance for Legal Security for Political Will-Making since 2019. The long-term goal of this alliance is a modern non-profit right, because those who deal with political education and make political demands are in danger of losing their non-profit status. In recent years, civil society organisations such as ATTAC, CampAct and the 'Federal Association of the Persecuted of the Nazi Regime - Federation of Anti-Fascists' have been stripped of their non-profit status and thus their right to issue donation certificates. The tax rules on non-profit status date back to the beginning of the 20th century and, in our view, urgently need to be revised and supplemented. FEMNET considers it very important that clubs can contribute to the formation of political will. Together with many other NGOs, we are therefore committed to a new non-profit law in which, for example, the commitment to human rights is defined as non-profit and political decision-making is not left to the political parties alone. In the short term, an amendment to the tax code is to be achieved in order to clarify that non-profit organisations may, of course, influence the formation of political will in order to achieve their goals and, on the other hand, to include additional non-profit purposes, since the 25 purposes listed in the law so far do not sufficiently cover the spectrum of civil society work for the benefit of the general public.
