News about Our Work - 14 August 2020 Wage losses exacerbate risks for textile workers The range of wage losses for millions of textile workers in the face of cancelled orders and collective redundancies is shown in a recently published report by the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC). Although the figures are based only on rough calculations, they give an indication of the sums that would be needed to provide for the workers. The report aims to clarify the responsibility of brand companies towards employees in their supply chains and calls on international brand companies to make a binding wage assurance in order to close the devastating wage gap. The effects of wage loss are exacerbated by the fact that most workers earn only poverty wages and live in countries with the weakest social protection.
