Recherchetool für Materialien Outdoor industry: The Future Without Dangerous PFCs Since 2011, Greenpeace has been working with the ‘Detox’ campaign to detoxify the textile industry. The environmentalists demand that companies refrain from all hazardous chemicals in their supply chains by 2020 and ban perfluorinated and polyfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) as one of the priority hazardous chemical groups. PFCs are used in many manufacturing processes and consumer goods, especially in the production of waterproof and water-repellent outdoor equipment. Since 2012, Greenpeace has repeatedly published studies showing that PFCs are routinely used in textiles, shoes and equipment from the outdoor segment. In further studies, Greenpeace came to the conclusion that volatile PFCs evaporate and significantly contaminate the indoor air of large outdoor brands.
