Fashion at all costs? Human Rights in the Textile Industry

With a material booklet, the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) takes a look at the production conditions in the textile industry. Whether in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia or Eastern Europe: the restriction or violation of human rights, labour and social laws is the order of the day.

The material booklet provides background information on textile production sites as well as interviews with seamstresses, information on the existing international legal framework and on how and where buyers and consumers can get involved. It informs about alliances to improve the work situation of seamstresses, corporate responsibility and which projects provide support so that people can know and claim their rights. In addition, the booklet shows how the topic of fashion production is now perceived critically: in exhibitions, documentaries, film and literature.
