DRESSES WITH HOOKS - Case study on global environmental use through the production of our clothes

Production of our clothing requires resources, whether the parts are made of cotton fiber or synthetic. Cotton cultivation in particular consumes an enormous amount of water. Numerous chemicals are used in the processing. All of this happens mainly in emerging and developing countries, because our clothing is hardly ever made in Germany. This case study examines and describes the global environmental impact of our clothing. It traces the worldwide footprints from the beginning of the raw material chain to the disposal of our old textiles:

  • Where do our garments and their raw materials come from?
  • What is the environmental impact of our clothing? Where do they come from?
  • What are the social conditions in textile production?
  • What happens to the textiles that go into the old clothes collection?
