Nachrichten - Öko-faire Kleidung 16 July 2020 Seal overview at a glance: Our new flyer is here Shopping and supporting fair working conditions for textile producers and the environment is easy. The new edition of our flyer ‘Eyes on when buying clothes’ shows which seals stand for fair conditions in textile production. In order to produce our clothing, the seamstresses in the producing countries often work under precarious working conditions at the lowest wages. Cheap fashion not only destroys the livelihoods of workers and their families, but also our environment. For the production of clothing, large quantities of CO2 are emitted and environmentally harmful chemicals are used. As consumers, we can have a positive impact on these grievances by choosing fair and ecologically produced textiles. Although there are still no 100% fair supply chains, certain environmental and social standards can be adhered to in individual work steps. Seals and multi-stakeholder initiatives (MSIs) should check this and make it visible. However, there are many of them and not all of them are credible. Fashion companies are increasingly awarding their products with weak or their own seals in order to make them look more sustainable. Fair and ecological conditions in the textile supply chain do not guarantee this. This leads to uncertainty for consumers. Which seal or MSI can you really trust? And what do they actually stand for? Our flyer ‘Eyes on when buying clothes’ will shortly provide answers to these questions so that every consumer can quickly find their way around when shopping. You can download the flyer free of charge or order it by e-mail from FEMNET. themeConsumer tips Date of publication:06 /2020Download Leaflet in A6 (PDF file) Category: Öko-faire Kleidung
