Mind the Gap – A Study on Garment Workers in Bangladesh

Clothing brands shall respect human rights including labor rights – wherever the companies operate. Such as, the right to a decent living wage or the right to organize into trade union and bargain collectively. This study investigates about garment workers in Bangladesh and gives insights into the current situation in RMG factories, wages and their development. It pursues the following objectives:

  • The labour rights situation of the RMG workers in Bangladesh in terms of implementation of national and international labour codes and standards.
  • Prevailing wage practices of RMG workers in Bangladesh and to draw a just wage structure with empirical analyses.
  • Draw and agree on a set of recommendations with the national centres’ TU leaders to act on
