The document is the result of a series of round tables held by the Group with over thirty relevant organisations. These included global washing machine manufacturers, leading academics, industry and retail representatives, and environmental groups. During the talks, the representatives informed the parliamentarians about the current state of research and, in their opinion, the most important problems related to microplastics. The group also received written comments from relevant stakeholders on feasible, holistic policy proposals that, if implemented by the government, could significantly reduce the release of microfiber plastic into our environment.
