With 4000-5000 factories, Bangladesh is the second most important production country for clothing in the world. About 80% of Bangladesh's clothing industry is made up of women. Men mainly work in supervisory and managerial positions, they give instructions, exert pressure and some do not shy away from violent behavior. Women in the textile industry are particularly affected by the patriarchal structures and conservative attitudes in Bangladesh. Discrimination against women and girls and gender-based violence are commonplace.
