New Fair Fashion Guide: All backgrounds on sustainable fashion and how it is made eco-fair

Titiel Fair - Your fashion guideBonn. Sustainable fashion is attractive. This proves the Fair fashion guide (PDF file), which will be published on 22.4.2017, shortly before the day of remembrance of Rana Plaza. In the factory collapse in Bangladesh on 24 April 2013, more than 1,100 textile workers died and 2,000 were severely injured.

"The Fair Fashion Guide is a plea for the wardrobe of the future and wants to encourage fashion to live with a clear conscience. With interviews, fashion routes and tips for restyle, in a visual language familiar to the young target group from magazines without using them without criticism," says Friederike von Wedel, editor-in-chief.

On 34 pages, professional models show fair fashion, which was produced under human rights responsible conditions. There are also tips for sustainable consumption: from clothing care to sharing and swapping to up-cycling.

Above all, however, the Fair Fashion Guide sheds light on all backgrounds: He points out the true costs of fashion, represents the complex supply chains of the fashion industry and encourages you to rethink your own consumption with a look into the wardrobe of the future. He explains the various environmental and social seals and lists Internet portals through which eco-fair clothing can be obtained. “I am pleased that the Fair Fashion Guide encourages not only multifaceted impressions of fair fashion but also reflection and change in consumer behaviour”, says FEMNET CEO Dr Gisela Burckhardt, editor of the Fair Fashion Guide.

The women's rights organization FEMNET, member of the Clean Clothes Campaign, has created the Fair Fashion Guide together with the Beneficial Design Institute Berlin (Friederike von Wedel-Parlow, editor-in-chief) and Nicole Hardt (Creative Direction). They worked for the guide with a professional team of fashion photographers, camera and sound experts, editors, illustrators, stylists and makeup artists.
