Green Bangla Garments Workers Federation (GBGWF), Bangladesh

The Green Bangla Garments Workers Federation (GBGWF) is a federation of 48 trade unions from the textile industry. Since its inception in 2010, it has been committed to improving working conditions in Bangladesh's garment industry, with a particular focus on supporting female garment workers.

The federation works to strengthen grassroots unions through training and campaigns, promotes leadership development and management of unions, and builds networks to ensure effective union work.

The association also focuses on appropriate legal health protection for female employees.

How FEMNET works with GBGWF

As part of an awareness-raising measure on the topic of safety and health protection in companies, it was found that many employees take painkillers almost every day without appropriate medical advice. The harmful effects of overdose and side effects are usually not known.

Together with Green Bangla, we are addressing the problem and conducting an information campaign in textile factories. In addition, we provide legal assistance to workers who are taking legal action against the unlawful administration of painkillers by their superiors.
