How FEMNET works with BLAST

In July 2023, FEMNET, together with the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Service Trust (BLAST), launched a three-year project to develop a legal aid app for garment workers.

The app provides easy and low-threshold access to information on labour and human rights. According to BLAST, over 80% of workers have access to a smartphone. The app Sromik Jigaysha ("Workers' Queries") also offers a complaint channel, which can be reached via messenger services or e-mail, for example. In addition, there is the possibility to contact BLAST directly for legal help and advice. Around 5,000 workers are expected to benefit from the project.
